Add it to your assistant

Each takes a minute. Menu names change now and then: look for Connectors, Apps or Connected apps.

  • Claude

    1. On claude.ai or the Claude app, open Settings → Connectors.
    2. Choose Add custom connector, name it What’s On and paste the URL above. Click Add.
    3. In a chat, open the + menu, then Connectors, and switch What’s On on.

Free plans can add one custom connector; Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise more. On Team and Enterprise an owner adds it for everyone.

  • ChatGPT

    1. On chatgpt.com, open Settings → Apps (it may say Connectors), then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode.
    2. Choose Create app, name it What’s On, paste the URL above and pick No authentication.
    3. In a new chat, pick What’s On from the + menu, or just ask by name.

Developer mode is on the web, on paid plans; in a Business or Enterprise workspace an admin may need to allow it.

  • Gemini

    1. On gemini.google.com, open Settings → Connected apps.
    2. Under Custom apps, choose Add a custom app, paste the URL above and click Next.
    3. It appears in the Gemini app on your phone too. Ask Gemini to use What’s On.

Custom apps are for personal Google accounts where Google has switched them on (the US first). Gemini Enterprise admins add it as a custom MCP server.

  • Grok

    1. Go to grok.com/connectors.
    2. Choose New Connector, then Custom, and paste the URL above.
    3. Grok finds What’s On’s tools on its own: ask away.

Custom connectors come with paid Grok plans.

Then just ask

  • “What's on in Barcelona this weekend?”
  • “Plan Saturday in Sydney for us: good coffee, something outdoors, live music at night.”
  • “We land in Lisbon on the 12th and leave on the 16th. Plan it with us a day at a time.”
  • “Free things to do in Melbourne tonight?”
  • “Find a flamenco show with space on Friday in Seville.”
  • “Somewhere for dinner near the centre of Amsterdam, then a bar crawl.”
  • What's on

Events, gigs, markets and hotel nights on your days, and things to do any day: where local hotels send their guests to eat, drink and see, free walking tours, tours and hikes.

  • Plan a day

A timed day, breakfast to tonight, that fits opening hours, real departure times and the forecast.

  • Getting there and around

Flights from your airport, places to stay for your dates and group, and the airport transfer, eSIM, trains and car hire, each with the link to book it.

  • Your plan, saved

Everything checked again, in time order with its booking link, and a link that opens your plan here, with Add to calendar.

Your assistant recommends only what What’s On lists, each with its link: it never makes up an event, a time or a price. Prefer to plan here? Every city page has Plan my day and Eli.

What's On in your assistant, answered

Does it cost anything?

No. What's On is free, in your assistant and on this site. Some booking links are partner links: FreeGuides may earn a commission when you book, at no extra cost to you.

What does What's On see?

Only what your assistant asks it: a city, some dates and what you're in the mood for, and for flights and stays how many are going and where you fly from. Not your name, your account or your conversation. There's no sign-in, and no record is kept of who asked or what.

Can it book for me?

No. Everything books on the organiser's or partner's own site (Viator, GuruWalk, OpenTable, Ticketmaster and others), where you see the live price and pay them. Your assistant gives you each link, and the plan link opens your plan here with all of them in one place.

Which cities does it cover?

The 512 cities on What's On, where hotels and hostels use FreeGuides. Ask for one that isn't covered and your assistant will say so.

My assistant isn’t listed. Can it still connect?

If it can add a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP), yes: give it https://explore.freeguides.com/mcp. It needs no key and no sign-in.
