The top pick in each of our busiest cities
One stop for everything a city has on
Big cities. Small cities. Your city.
We add a city as soon as a hotel or hostel there joins FreeGuides.
Local, not generic.
Picked by people who live there
The hotels and hostels of each city tell us where they send their own guests, down to the café.
Linked to the source
Every listing goes to the organiser or booking partner, with times and prices as they publish them.
Gone when it’s over
Pages refresh through the day and finished events drop off, so what you see is what’s on.
Free, everywhere
No paywall, no app to download, no sign-up, and no city too small.
For hotels & hostels
Put your nights in front of every visitor in town.
On FreeGuides already? Switch on Public listing and your trivia nights, pub crawls and tours appear here. Switch on Where to stay and travellers book you direct.
What's On, answered
What is What's On by FreeGuides?
A free what's on guide for every city where hotels and hostels use FreeGuides. Each city page lists the week's local events, the regular nights hotels and hostels run (trivia, pub crawls, live music), free walking tours, tours and day trips to book, self-guided tours, the restaurants, bars and sights local hotels recommend, walks and hikes, and the partner places to stay.
Where do the listings come from?
From the hotels and hostels themselves (their own events, where they've chosen to list them publicly, and the places they recommend to guests), from booking partners such as Viator, GuruWalk and Ticketmaster, and from public event listings. Pages are refreshed several times a day.
Is it free to use?
Yes. Booking links go to the organiser or partner, who handles tickets. Some links earn FreeGuides a commission, which never changes the price you pay.
I run a hotel or hostel. How do I list our events?
Hotels and hostels on FreeGuides switch on Public listing in their Events dashboard, and their events appear on their city's page. They can also list themselves under Where to stay, with a link to book direct. If you're not on FreeGuides yet, you can create a demo at freeguides.com.
Can I plan a whole trip here?
Yes. Start a trip with where and when, and My trip lines up flights, a place to stay, car hire and the rest for everyone going. On any city page, Plan my day plans a day from what's on, and Ask Eli, FreeGuides' trip planner, can plan every day of your stay. Bookings happen on the organiser's, partner's or property's own site.
